Heli-skiing in the Alps
I’ll never forget driving through the farthest tip of the Sian Ka’an jungle in Mexico in a rented Jeep with my husband and two kids. We hadn’t seen another soul for hours on the rough road when we met Irma, a lone traveler on foot. She assured us we were close to the end of the peninsula and promised to introduce us to her husband when we arrived. Sure enough, the end was near — and her husband turned out to be Mike from Milwaukee, my hometown! He took us boating all afternoon and later welcomed us into their home for a home-cooked dinner.
